TrackMate Tracker Installation
 

Now that you have received your TrackMate devices, please review the following information that provides tips and best practices on installing devices in your customers vehicles.
 

The following details will help ensure that you get the best performance from the hardware.
 

Things to Know Before You Get Started

1.   All TrackMate devices are shipped in an inactive state.   

2.  Only TrackMate personnel can remotely activate the trackers as there are no physical buttons on the device.

3.  As soon as you begin an install you will first need to register the install on the dealer portal using the login details that you were provided from the TrackMate team.  Input all details accurately most importantly the VIN number and device serial number/s.

4.  Once you do this we are made aware of the install, we remotely activate the tracker.  It usually takes about 30 minutes to activate our tracker.

5.  In the case of a TrackMate device install connect the TrackMate unit to a constant power source. 

6.  This is important as each TrackMate device has a battery that is powered by the constant power source.  The TrackMate battery is good for about 6 weeks when disconnected from the constant power source.

7.  TrackMate devices are typically delivered with a battery charge level between 60-100% capacity.

8.  If the battery is drained, connect the hardware to a 8 ~ 40V power source (Red = Positive; Black = Negative) and it will come on-line within a few minutes.

TrackMate Device Installation Steps
 

1.  Please note that the device's lithium rechargeable battery performs best in temperatures ranging between -10°C and 45°C. Exposure to temperatures above 60°C could permanently damage the battery, impacting the device's performance. Furthermore, in temperatures of -20°C or lower, the device will switch to relying solely on external power. Therefore, it is essential to select a location for installation that stays within these temperature ranges to ensure optimal operation and longevity of the device.  Select a location for installation that supports access to constant electrical power.

2.  Place the TrackMate device in the location you intend to install, anywhere in the vehicle with intention to be hidden from thief. 
 

3.  Connect the TrackMate unit to a constant power source.

a.  Red – Positive (8 ~ 40V)

b.  Black – Negative

 

4.    The TrackMate tracker red and black wires should be connected directly to a 8 ~ 40V circuit with constant (not ignition-only) power.

5.   Install a 3 Amp in-line fuse on the red wire.
 

6.    Use a solder or crimp terminals to connect the wires.

7.    Use anti-corrosion grease and shrink tubes with internal adhesive on all connections and unused wires.
